Description
The second morning I was in Yosemite, I got up early and headed out to Tunnel View to get a shot of the sunrise. Just as I left the campsite, it started to rain. I was a little disappointed and was wondering if I was going to have to use a rain sleeve and stand out in the rain for the next hour or so waiting for the sunrise, but at the same time thinking it might add some nice clouds or fog to the image. The rain ended up lasting only for a few minutes and as I drove up hill on 41, I was no longer in the clouds/fog.
At Tunnel View, you could see the valley with patches of clouds where it was still raining and the valley was filled with a dense haze. I think most of it was due to the smoke coming from the Aspen Fire south of Yosemite near the Mammoth Pool Reservoir and Huntington Lake area. Luckily, it added a great mood and feeling to the image as well as some great color in the sky.
You can still make out half dome in the distance through the haze.
